ITEM SELLING

Equipment such as gears and weapons may drop during a dungeon run. Players can equip up to 2 weapons, 1 pair of gloves and 1 pair of boots. The rest of the unequipped items are kept either in the players' inventory or chests.

Players can also acquire a myriad of furniture from the Carpenter, which can easily lead to a huge surplus in their virtual storage, limited pieces can be used in the restaurant.

Problem Statement

Besides discarding equipment, players were unable to remove the excess that they picked up from the dungeons efficiently. Additionally, it was impossible to remove unwanted furniture pieces, and it soon became a chore as players had to cycle through a long list before finding what they needed.

Thus, the players felt frustrated playing the game.

Goals

  • An efficient way to get rid of extra equipment and furniture that doesn't feel like a waste.

  • Ease the players' burden in reaching the endgame.

Business Challenges

  • Reduce the amount of new text entries, art assets, visual and sound effects required.

  • The feature must be compatible with platforms like PC, Consoles, Switch, and potentially Mobile Devices.

  • The feature should not heavily alter the existing core game loop and the game balance.

Player Needs

  • Players need to feel good about letting go of their extra equipment and furniture.

  • Players need to have another way to get coins to help with game progression.

The Solution

To resolve player needs

Allow the selling of equipment and furniture to the Carpenter and Blacksmith.

Players get coins in exchange for selling them.

This becomes another form of income to help with the main story quest.
